ChatGPT Hack: Turn Long-Form Videos into Endless Content

I never knew how much I’d LOVE YouTube until one of my clients said, “We really want to start posting long-form content on YouTube.

At first, I was like… UGH, kill me. 😅 Learning a whole new platform in less than a week? Welcome to freelance marketing.

But I did it! And while it took me a bit longer than a week (we’ll ignore that part), I discovered something game-changing along the way: long-form content is KING—or QUEEN if you’d rather.

Why Long-Form Videos Are a Goldmine

After spending nine hours editing my first 7-minute video (yes, you read that right), I was DONE. I outsourced the video editing and shifted my focus to the bigger picture: strategy.

That’s when I had my “aha!” moment. These long-form videos weren’t just content—they were evergreen GOLD. Most of them were packed with value that could be reused for YEARS.

In this case, my client was an immigration lawyer, and as long as the laws didn’t change drastically, the content remained relevant. So, what did I do?
I repurposed the s* out of those videos.**

What I Created from One Long-form Video

I turned a single YouTube video into:

  • Reels
  • Carousels
  • IG Stories
  • IG Highlight Reels

And I didn’t stop there. I kept using those same videos over and over. With a strong foundation of content, I could now set weekly themes based on those videos.

Here’s an example:

One video was about “Getting your 10-year green card if you’re married to a US citizen.”

That video became the theme for the entire week (or even month):

  • Our email newsletter focused on that specific audience.
  • Our social posts targeted people interested in green cards.

Our engagement strategy reached those who’d shown interest in similar content.

How to Repurpose Long-Form Videos (Step-by-Step)

Step 1: Download the Free Transcripts

The first thing you need to do is upload your video to Google Drive. Why? Because they provide FREE, accurate transcripts.

Here’s how to grab the caption track:

Step 1: Open the video

Step 2: Click the three dots next to “share.”

Step 3: Click “Manage caption tracks”

Step 4: Click download..

Once you have your transcript, it’s time to turn it into content!

Step 2: Use These ChatGPT Prompts

Here are my favorite prompts for repurposing long-form videos into bite-sized, engaging content:

  1. Create carousels:
“ChatGPT, I’m uploading the transcript of my latest YouTube video. Can you help me turn this into multiple carousel ideas? Outline detailed captions for each slide to follow my brand’s tone/voice. Here’s the transcript: [paste transcript here].”
  2. Crop for reels and shorts:
“ChatGPT, here’s the transcript for a long-form video. Help me identify the best parts to cut into bite-sized clips for Reels, Shorts, and TikTok. Make sure each clip stands on its own while keeping the overall context clear. Here’s the transcript: [paste transcript here].”
  3. Brainstorm new ideas: “ChatGPT, help me brainstorm creative ways to repurpose this long-form video for [insert platform here]. Here’s the transcript: [paste transcript here].”

Why This Strategy Works

Repurposing long-form content saves you HOURS of time and lets you stay consistent across platforms. You’re not reinventing the wheel—you’re making the most out of your best-performing videos.
